An API key lets an outside tool, such as our WordPress and WooCommerce plugins, a custom integration, or your AI assistant, work with your MyEmailProgram account securely. Each key has its own permissions, rate limit, and optional IP restrictions, so every tool gets exactly the access it needs and nothing more.
Go to app.myemailprogram.com and sign in.
In the left-hand menu, expand Settings and click API Keys. Then add a new key to open the Add API Role window.
Enter an API Name (required) and an optional Description. Use a name that says what the key is for, like "WooCommerce store" or "AI assistant – read only," so you can tell your keys apart later.
The Rate limit is the number of requests this key can make per minute. The default of 60 works well for most plugins and AI tools. Raise it only for integrations that move a lot of data at once.
In Allowed IPs, enter the IP addresses that are allowed to use this key. Your current IP address is shown just below the box. If the key will live on a web server with a fixed IP, such as your WordPress site's host, lock it to that address.
Under API Permissions, select a module on the left (such as List Management, Contact Management, Broadcast Management, Custom Fields, Suppression, or Sending Domain), then check the actions this key may perform on the right. Check All grants every action in that module. Only grant what the tool actually needs.
Click Create Key. Copy the key and store it somewhere secure, like a password manager. Treat it like a password: anyone who has it can do whatever its permissions allow.
Wherever the tool asks for connection details, enter the App URL https://app.myemailprogram.com/ and your new API key. That's all our WordPress and WooCommerce plugins, custom integrations, and AI tools need.
